Let the Good Times Roll

With only 10 days left before my Freshman year of college is officially over, I'm making every minute of this last week and a half count.  For about a month now, I've been having this unfamiliar feeling of not wanting it all to end.  Throughout high school, I couldn't wait for summertime, but after this wonderful year at Carolina, I'm kinda bummed to have to leave.  I'm going to have to get used to rules and chores and especially the dreaded curfew again.  Don't get me wrong, I'll be super excited to reunite with old friends, but I'll definitely be making a few trips around the Southeast to visit my new friends from college.

This past weekend was a blast.  I probably slept a total of 8 hours....and even that's pushin' it.  I practically lived at my friend's room in Sims and my abs were sore from laughing after an entire weekend of fun.  It felt so good to be able to hang out with 'the crew' 24/7, not having any real responsibilities or prior commitments.

Saturday after an huge breakfast at IHOP (I needed a wheel-chair to get outta that place) we took a little trip to the Rocks (aka the River).  Now, the River is one of the best kept secrets of Columbia.  Just one exit up from downtown, headed out towards West Columbia, is the Riverbanks Zoo, appropriately named since it's right on the banks of a river.  Anyway, if you go all the way to the back of the parking lot, there are a few trails leading into what looks to be like some ordinary forest.  But oh no, on a warm Saturday, the trail leads past a few trees, down a hill and opens up to 'The Rocks' filled with hundreds of college students hanging out on a bunch of rocks in the middle of a river.  It sounds a bit strange, but in my opinion, its one of the best things to do on a hot, humid afternoon.  When it gets to be July and August, it's fun to tie a few rafts together and float down the river, but this time of year the water's still pretty cold, so sun bathing on one of the huge bolders will do for now.  Either way, it's just good to get outside and hangout with a big group of friends and enjoy life!
