Success breeds relief

My Econ test results caused this week to be "The Best Week Ever"...I could have totally been on VH1 with how great everything has gone for me this week.  To start off...I got an "A" on my Econ test!! So I guess everything I did worked...and that's going to be how I study for the rest of this semester.  Also, to top it off, everyday this week I've been to the gym, had a chance to eat my Special K cereal, and had between 6-8 hours of sleep!!  If you don't believe those 3 things can change the outcomes of your week, think again!  It kept me on the up and up all week long!

Tonight was also the football game against Auburn.  Unfortunately, I didn't get a ticket to the game, but I did go see "V for Vendetta" at the Russell House theater with my friend - which is an AWESOME movie!!  "Remember, remember the 5th of November".  After the movie, I caught the rest of the game on tv...and I must say, I was rather impressed by our team for playing the 2nd ranked team!  Spurrier always seems to have something up his sleeve.  So considering that almost the entire school thought we were going to be crushed...I think the Gamecocks held their own tonight and even had a few ESPN highlights :)

Well I have a huge Accounting Test Friday afternoon...so I'm back to the books!

One chillaxin day...

Hallelujah!  Classes are over...and the only place you'll be able to find me is the Strom Thurmond!  I must say, I am pretty much obsessed with the gym and playing basketball.  3 solid hours on the courts is heaven on earth for me!  My friends know that if I'm not at the gym at some point during my day...it must have been a pretty ridiculous day.  The gym was amazing...probably because I finally decided to stop listening to everyone's input and suggestions on my shot and decided to just stick with what I do best!  I shoot the ball...and as cock-eyed and funny as it may look...it works for me :)

Tuesday nights are always my favorite because I get to see my 40+ closest brothers...my Delta Sigma Pi Fraternity brothers!  And yes, I am positive I mean fraternity and brothers and not sorority and sisters...it's a co-ed professional fraternity!  This night was unique though because we pinned 27 new pledges for the semester!! This is a huge pledge class which will mean lots of interviews!  I also have a new little brother as of pinning, Chris!  I met him during recruitment and now it's an instant bond since he's part of my family tree and I will have the opportunity to guide him through his pledging process!  After pinning, a huge group of us enjoyed some late night festivities at Yesterdays, a restaurant in Five Points!  Thank goodness for no tests on Wednesday = enjoyable and relaxing evening of no stress!

Letting down my pride

Sunday, I commited my entire day to studying for my huge Econ221 test...over about 7 chapters of material.  Since the beginning of the school year a variety of my classes had mentioned SI sessions.  SI stands for Supplemental Instruction and is offered for a variety of large classes as an extra opportunity to review material with a student who did well in that particular class in the past.

Personally, I sometimes have an issue with my own pride and do not want to be seen as unintelligent or the kid in the class that doesn't understand the material if seen attending a "tutoring" session.  I have always just tried to learn everything on my own if I did not understand.  Well, I finally humbled myself and set down my pride Sunday evening and attended an SI session for Econ because I was overwhelmed and completely lost in the subject matter.  It was an awesome experience!!  This surprised me...but it turns out the SI leader for my class is so dedicated he came up with a practice test and set up a website with graphs and explanations...that even talks!  This helped me 10-fold and kept me from having some sort of anxiety attack I'm sure.

When I left the SI Session I was grateful and feeling very confident about my upcoming test Tuesday.  When I sat down at the test Tuesday...I was able to answer the majority of the questions without a doubt...so now I'll just wait until Thursday to find out my grade :)

Game Day

IT”S GAME DAY AT USC!!! Tonight is our first game of the season versus Mississippi State. Everyone on campus is dress in garnet and black and talking about the starting players and what they think will be the outcome of the night.

My classes flew by today and I was able to make it to the gym since I didn’t have much homework for Friday.

Around 8 pm I went to the Campus Room in Capstone where there was a huge screen set up with the USC v. MSU game! There was food and drinks set up with a large crowd of people! We routed on the Gamecocks as if we were in the Stadium. After first half of the game I went to Woodrow and met up with a bunch of my friends who had had a cookout for the rest of the game!! It was amazing to win 15-0!! Everyone went wild. My favorite part is playing “2001” during commercial breaks!! We made sure to teach some of the freshmen this since it is essential to know Carolina chants at football games!! I’m saving my rice for the first home game….because when Sidney Rice gets his first TD (that doesn’t get called back by the refs) there will be rice going up everywhere in the stadium!! I can’t wait!
