Volleyball Playoffs

2 volleyball intramural teams = 2 chances for a championship!  Well, I should start by telling you I'm very competitive when it comes to sports.  This semester I've played co-ed indoor soccer, co-ed flag football, girls' volleyball, and co-ed volleyball.  It's been a blast and each team has been with a different group of friends and has had completely different outcomes.  In case you were curious, my soccer team with my friends didn't even make it to the playoffs (kind of sad) and my flag football team that I played on with my residents made it to the final eight!  So I'm hoping that next year the flag football team will have the chance to go all the way!

As far as volleyball, last night was the start of co-ed volleyball playoffs.  I play with my business fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi.  We beat Alpha Lambda Delta (which just happens to be the team Cory (USC '09) plays on).  It was great - Cory and I were having fun joking around the whole time.  He would get so excited to make it over and then when the ball returned to his side he'd end up diving to try and hit it (quite entertaining).  I was completely thrilled to have one win under our belt, even though I personally didn't play my best.  However, in my defense, I had a teammate accidently come down and land their elbow into the top of my head right before the start of the game.  There's still a knot there!

My goal before I graduate is to win a championship in a sport.  I would love to win in basketball, but honestly I just want a little bit of bragging rights for any sport.  Well, tomorrow playoffs begin for the girls team I play on (The Crusaders) and after that game is the next round for the Delta Sigma Pi team!!  I'm hoping to leave the gym Wednesday with two victories!  I'll keep you posted!

Just another reminder that there's only a few more days until the December 1st deadline!! Let me know if I can assist you in any way!

A Thanksgiving to Remember

I FINALLY arrived in Tampa on Wednesday morning, only about 9 hours after I was originally scheduled to do so.  It was amazing to enter my cozy, blue house after an almost 4 month absence.  I was greeted at the door by my mom and after a few hours my two siamese cats seemed happy to have me home as well.  I am so attached to my cats, so I was glad when they were finally crying for my attention.

Thanksgiving was the real reason to be home for a few days!  For the first time in years my family was able to enjoy Thanksgiving day with a larger portion of my family.  My immediate family (the parents and my brother) and my grandma went over to my second cousin's house in St. Petersburg where there was every type of food your heart could desire, from green bean casserole all the way to the pumpkin pie (but sadly there was no whip cream).  I got to spend time with my third cousin, who's only 11 years old, playing piano and the heart and soul duet.  We also watched the Tampa Bay Bucs lose once again...hopefully this won't be USC's fate on Saturday.

Since I tragically missed Grey's Anatomy on Thursday night, I decided to call it an early night after watching Miami beat Boston College because Black Friday awaited me!  And yes, my mom planned to wake me up at the crack of dawn to go to Target for their overwhelming amount of sales!!  It should be a fun filled day of shopping!

I hope you all enjoyed the holidays at home!  Don't forget that the December 1st application date is next Friday!

Last 2 days of school...before break that is

It's hard to believe that there was school the Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving break.  In my opinion, these are probably two of the most complained about days.  For the most part, I did not benefit in any way by attending classes that met on Monday because half of the students in my classes weren't there.  However, I decided to stick around and go to class because my Econ professor decided to stick a test on the Tuesday before break and my Accounting teacher continued to teach new material to better prepare us for the final in her class.  SO basically class wasn't a waste of my time, it was just unfortunate timing because I wanted to be back in Florida as soon as possible.  I vote this gets changed for next year so we can spend a week at home for Thanksgiving break!  That'd be the life!

My Economics test was on perfect competition and monopolies and I'm hoping I got an A, which in his class is 77% or better!  If I did, this will relieve me of a lot of pressure during exam week.  Especially since my economics exam and my accounting exam are on the same day!

Well, now it's time to pack my suitcase and get ready for the airport!

Congratulations to everyone who has already received their acceptance letters!!  Good luck on your upcoming decisions!

Week of Stress....Lots of Sports

Econ and Accounting tests always seem to fall in the same week.  All I can say is Thank God for SI Sessions.  They have helped me tremendously by providing practice tests to better prepare me for the test that counts.  I got my Econ Test from Tuesday back today and got a "B"!  I was hoping for an "A", but now I just know I need to really buckle down for the next two exams.  And Friday is the next Accounting test.  Yep, that's tomorrow.  I've been reviewing notes, reading the book, and completing practice problems to do anything to better understand the chapters that will be covered.

As hard and tiring as this week has been, I have managed to get some great exercise!  Monday night my co-ed football team had our first playoff game!! We were "on point"!! We mercy ruled the team we played which means we are progressing to the next round!  I can't wait until then!  Then  Wednesday I spent a combined 5 hours at the Strom!! That's just crazy.  I worked out for an hour in the morning, played 2 1/2 hours of basketball in the evening (incredible games) and then I played on my fraternity's co-ed volleyball team for over an hour!!  The volleyball team won all 3 matches...our team rocked out!!

I can't believe it's already Thursday night!! I'm just excited Grey's Anatomy was on tonight!!  It was a great episode...as usual!! I know a good majority of the campus is hooked on it!!

Well enough procrastinating, Grey's is over and it's time to go to Starbucks for my caffeine fix!
